Author Meet and Greet: MOM UNPLUGGED
Author Jasneet Seth launches her second book
Mother’s Day 2025 holds a special place in my heart this year. It marks the official launch of my second picture book, Mom Unplugged, written with love and thoughtfulness for every mother who has ever longed to pause, breathe, and truly soak in the joy of her children’s presence. While the book’s soft launch happened earlier at Abraham Lincoln High School in Denver, the journey to this day has been one of satisfaction, creativity, and connection. The ‘author meet and greet’ event at Abraham Lincoln High School offered a beautiful sneak peek for the community with a booth to display my first book- My Classroom Lost Its Walls and my second, Mom Unplugged. The decision to host the soft launch at Abraham Lincoln High School was intentional. As a community space full of young learners and engaged families, it created the perfect backdrop for sharing the book’s heart. Watching children flip through the pages, pointing out details in the illustrations, and hearing parents say, “This feels like me,” whispered an affirmation that moms across generations feel a need to unplug.

What is Mom Unplugged all about?
Mom Unplugged is a lyrical, rhyming prose piece that speaks a universal truth—sometimes the most meaningful gift we can give is our undivided attention to our kids. The story follows a mother who, in the midst of endless reminders, notifications, and to-do lists, decides to step back for just one day. She puts the phone aside, turns off the mental alarms, and chooses to live the day in the moment with her daughters. The prose is gentle yet deeply resonant with any mom on any given day, weaving a rhythm that connects. It’s a kind of love letter to the quiet and unplanned hours. The cover beautifully captures the essence of the book—Mom and her two daughters sitting with their legs stretched out, arms folded behind their heads, simply soaking in the air and embracing the bliss of doing nothing—a state that, if I’m honest, doesn’t come easily to me.

My author booth
Setting up my author booth is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated parts of my entire journey in bringing a book to life. I love planning every detail—the colors, the textures, the little touches that create the vibe. I always make sure the booth’s palette resonates with the color theme of the illustrations, creating a connection between the book and its presentation. This time around, Mom Unplugged carried a soft, low-key mood, expressed through warm pastel hues—peach, cream, blush, and —that invited visitors into a calm and cozy space. A custom-made table cover anchored the display, while personalized bookish goodies, including themed décor, keychains, and greeting cards, added a few more elements of charm.
A perfect mother’s day gift
Mother’s Day is often filled with flowers, breakfasts in bed, and sweet gestures from loved ones. But Mom Unplugged adds another layer to that celebration—it invites reflection. It gently nudges us to recognize that in between the big events, life is made up of simple, unplugged moments that deserve our attention. The book is not about grand gestures, in act, it’s about ditching those, about finding joy in just , sidewalk chalk masterpieces, or reading a favorite story together without rushing to the next task- or just about anything low key.
As I look back on the journey to this launch—from late-night writing sessions, to collaborating with a talented illustrator, to seeing the printed book for the first time—I feel immense gratitude. Every page holds a piece of my heart, and every interaction at the booth reminded me why I write: to connect, to celebrate, and to share stories that matter.
To everyone who stopped by during the soft launch, thank you for being part of the beginning. And to all the mothers out there, I hope Mom Unplugged finds a place in your home and your heart. Here’s to turning off the noise and turning up the moments that truly matter.
